Foi no passado dia 20 de Dezembro que a PIA - Projectos de Intervenção Artística apresentou o seu mais recente projecto "Passagem", uma Performance/Instalação que marcou uma notável presença no Desfile por Macau, Cidade Latina (澳門拉丁城區幻彩大巡遊).
Um evento desenvolvido no âmbito da Celebração do 12.º Aniversário da Transferência da Administração de Macau para a China, organizado pelo Instituto Cultural de Macau, e com Direcção Artística de Sandra Battaglia.

Com o desafio de criar para a cidade de Macau, a companhia PIA implementou de raiz o projecto "Passagem", desde a Instalação à Performance, durante 3 semanas in situ.
Foram realizados de dois Workshops, um de Construção de Máscaras e outro de Técnica de Andas, dos quais resultou a junção de uma equipa especial de 20 intérpretes (!), alguns provenientes dos grupos locais como Long Fung Drama Club e Maranatha Arts Society, assim como alunos da Escola de Teatro (Dwayne Ieng Un Ku), que com a direcção da PIA, posteriormente integraram a Performance durante a Parada.

It was on the last December 20th, that the Company PIA - Projectos de Intervenção Artística presented its latest project "Passage", a Performance/Installation that marked a notable presence in the Parade through Macao, Latin City (澳門拉丁城區幻彩大巡遊)
An event developed under the Celebration of the 12th Anniversary of Macao’s Handover to China, organized by the Cultural Institute of Macau, and with Artistic Direction of Sandra Battaglia.

With the challenge of creating to the city of Macao, the street company PIA implemented from its essence,, for 3 weeks in situ, the project "Passage", since the Installation until the Performance.
Two Workshops were held, one of Masks Construction and another of Stilts Techniques, here resulted a creation of a special team of 20 Participants (!), some from local artistic groups such as Long Fung Drama Club and Maranatha Arts Society, as well as students of the Theatre School (Dwayne Ku Ieng Un), that with the direction of PIA, later joined the Performance during the Parade.

No próximo mês de Dezembro, a Companhia PIA - Projectos de Intervenção Artística rumará até terras de Macau, onde irá criar a apresentar a Performance/Instalação "Passagem".

Uma Performance que conta a história de"Viajantes que caminham por entre um universo de objectos suspensos, despojando-se das memórias do passado e da matéria física que lhes embrulharam a vida, encontrando o silêncio e a ausência, marcando o início de uma nova jornada", contemplada por uma Instalação que emerge em forma de "Interferências poéticas que exploram no lugar comum o que de nele melhor existe, a sua multiplicidade de sensações e sentidos, tornando-a única pelo meio que a envolve, emergindo-a do esquecimento e da rotina, transformando-a num efémero lugar de contemplação".

"Passagem" terá lugar no dia 20 de Dezembro, no âmbito do "Viva - Parada por Macau, Cidade Latina", um evento com direcção de Alexandra Battaglia e organização do Instituto Cultural de Macau, que unirá e cruzará num só dia e numa só cidade, artistas locais e internacionais.
Esta viajem também irá englobar a realização, para a comunidade local, de dois Workshops, inseridos no universo do "Passagem", nomeadamente um Workshop de Máscaras e um Workshop de Andas (1 a 6 de Dezembro).

In the next month of December, the Cia. PIA - Projectos de Intervenção Artística will sail ahead to land in Macao, where she will create and resent the Performance/Installation "Passage".

A Performance that tells the story of "Travelers who walk through a world of suspended objects, releasing themselves from the memories of the past and of the physical matter that wrapped their lives, finding silence and absence, marking the beginning of a new journey", fulfilled by an Installation that emerges in the form of "Poetic interference that explores in the commonplace what the best it as, its multiplicity of sensations and feelings, making it unique by the environment that surrounds it. Emerging this form from oblivion and routine, transforming this common place in a ephemeral place of contemplation”.

"Passage" will take place on December 20, on the "Viva - Parade trough Macao, Latin City", an event, directed by Alexandra Battaglia and organized by Macao Cultural Institute, that will unite and intersect in one day and in Macao town, local and international artists.
This trip will also include the realization for the local community, two workshops, embedded in the world of "Passage", including a Mask Workshop and a Stilt Workshop (1-6 December).

Em 2011 a Cia PIA volta a assumir a Direcção Artística do Evento "Ciência na Rua", pelas mãos de Pedro Leal.
O evento teve lugar nos próximos dias 5 e 6 de Novembro no Parque Feiras e Exposições de Estremoz e foi um verdadeiro encontro entre a Arte e a Ciência, um projecto que durante vários dias respirou em Estremoz, não deixando ninguém indiferente à sua passagem.

In 2011 the Cia. PIA led once again the Artistic Director of the Event "Science in the Street" by hands of Pedro Leal.
The event toke place on the previous November 5th and 6th and was a true meeting between the Art and Science, a project that will breathe for several days on the city of Estremoz (Portugal), leaving no one indifferent to its passage.

Foi com enorme prazer, que no passado dia 05 de Junho, a Cia. PIA - Projectos de Intervenção Artística marcou, com o Espectáculo “Humanum Fatum”, o Encerramento da edição de 2011 do FITEI Festival Internacional de Teatro de Expressão Ibérica.

"O encerramento do FITEI decorreu, assim, em clima descontraído, com o projecto de expressão artística “Humanum Fatum” (...) Um espectáculo sem o uso da palavra mas cuja arte dos protagonistas prendeu o público do princípio ao fim. Durante cerca de 1 hora, a actuação dos artistas divertiu e cativou os vários públicos presentes, tendo sido a interacção uma constante. A envolvência, a participação e as gargalhadas do público fizeram deste um espectáculo de excelência, para recordar." (CM Matosinhos Fonte).

It was with great pleasure that in the past on 05 June, the Cia. PIA - Projectos de Intervenção Artística marked, with the street theatre production “Humanum Fatum”, the Closure of the 2011 edition of FITEI Festival Internacional de Teatro de Expressão Ibérica, in Matosinhos (PORTUGAL), .

"The closure of FITEI ran, so in a relaxed atmosphere, with a project of artistic expression "Humanum Fatum" (...) A show without the use of the word but the craft of the players held the audience from beginning to end. For about one hour, the work of artists entertained and captivated many audiences present, having been a constant interaction. The involvement, participation and laughter from the audience made this a show of excellence, to remember". (CM Matosinhos Source).

“Humanum Fatum” a mais recente produção da PIA, tem autoria de Pedro Leal e encenação de Sylvain Peker e retrata “Uma viagem por entre memórias de uma terra, que encontra a sua identidade com a chegada da máquina a vapor... Lugar onde os homens outrora, puxavam costumes e tradições, amassavam o corpo e pisavam o sangue que a terra lhes oferecia. “Bogotá. Las diversas opciones de obras, espectáculos y montajes traídos para esta versión del Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro, sin duda hacen que sea difícil determinar que montaje escoger, teniendo en cuenta los países, adaptaciones, géneros y compañías. Se Presentará Hoy Y Mañana El Hombre Y La Máquina: ¿Quién Gana?
"En 1850, Pinhalnovo (Portugal), situado 50 kilómetros al sur de Lisboa, la capital, y a 12 kilómetros del mar, era un pueblo feliz. Los campesinos sembraban y en época de cosecha los más jóvenes tenían una tradición: que el hombre que recogiera una mazorca que al abrirla estuviera roja tenía el derecho de darle un beso a la mujer de sus sueños. Todo estaba bien hasta cuando llegó la primera máquina de vapor (para recoger la cosecha de maíz) a Pinhalnovo y, con ella, el progreso y, por ende, más gente en busca de un mejor futuro. A mayor número de habitantes, mayor olvido de lo que la población había sido hasta ese momento, de sus costumbres y su forma de vida natural. Siglo y medio después, y para tratar de erradicar ese olvido nació la obra de calle Humanum fatum, de la mano de Pedro Leal, director de PIA (Projectos de Intervenção Artística), de Portugal. Leal nació en Pinhalnovo, en 1976, y desde niño oyó las historias que sus tatarabuelos les contaron a sus bisabuelos y estos a sus abuelos y así sucesivamente, “hasta que llegaron a mí. Por eso me resisto a pensar que una máquina nos quite la calidad de vida”. El montaje gira en torno de máquinas gigantes que los hombres han creado para solucionar problemas inexistentes. “En su trabajo por perfeccionarlas, se olvidan de las relaciones humanas y de contactarse con la naturaleza”, dice. El poco tiempo libre que estos creadores tienen lo dedican a convencer al resto de los humanos (el público) de que sus inventos son imprescindibles, así no sirvan para nada. Leal, de 33 años, no abomina el progreso. Opina que hay cosas que han sido buenas para la humanidad y que muchos creadores han cambiado el curso de la historia. En su opinión, sin embargo, la guerra demuestra cada día que ese progreso es relativo, porque se crean permanentemente máquinas para matar al otro. En definitiva, este hijo de Pinhalnovo prefiere el mundo natural."

¿Viendo Teatro? Teatro Callejero

“De Portugal. Muy muy bonita. Un trabajo limpísimo estéticamente y bien contado. De las cosas que venía criticando del Teatro de Calle de los últimos festivales había sido precisamente que la mayoría se dedicaba a hacer un “espectáculo” y poco de esos trabajos me daba TEATRO o me contaba una historia.” (...) “Ahora, respecto al teatro de calle mi mayor expectativa está en el lenguaje con el que se llega al público. Cuando vi Humanum fatum eso fue lo que me enamoró, bueno la mona del grupo también, pero lo principal era que el mensaje era claro para el público, sin importar el idioma o la nacionalidad. Me sentí viendo “Tiempos Modernos”, “La Guerra del Fuego” o “The Wall”. No se necesita saber inglés, neardenthaliano o bosquimano, se entendía.” (..,) “En Humanum fatum la gente comenzó a aplaudir cada 5 minutos ante cualquier cosa, como estamos acostumbrados, pero cuando se dio cuenta que les estaban contando una historia, escuchó, leyó y recibió. Los aplausos volvieron al final de la obra, cuando todo fue contado.”

A pesar de la lluvia cuatro espíritus silentes, con una gran presencia escénica llena de sutilezas y un impecable manejo del espacio público, se hicieron presentes en la tarde del 2 de abril de 2010 en un parque de la ciudad de Bogotá, a pesar de ser espíritus todo los mortales quedaron cautivados e iban tras de ellos en un acompañamiento también silente, dejando escuchar la lluvia que corría el blanco de sus cuerpos.

Actores portugueses se toman calles bogotanas durante Festival de Teatro
BOGOTA, 2 abr (Xinhua) -- La compañía de teatro PIA (Proyectos de Intervención Artística) de Portugal, participa en el XII Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro de Bogotá (FITB) con dos piezas de teatro callejero que son presentadas en calles, parques y centros comerciales de la capital.
Pedro Leal, actor y director encargado de la obra itinerante "Spirits" (Espíritus), habló hoy con Xinhua sobre el recibimiento que han tenido por parte del público bogotano que asiste a sus presentaciones programadas en espacios abiertos, incluso en medio de la lluvia.
"El público aquí tiene una energía increíble, hoy por ejemplo estaba lloviendo un montón y a la gente no le importó, en otros países cuando llueve mucho la presentación se cancela pero aquí, la gente nos esperó y decidimos hacerlo por ellos", explicó. Leal, agregó que la obra "Spirits" es una pieza de "Poesía Visual" más que un espectáculo teatral, que busca espacios abiertos que contrasten con la palidez de los personajes que representan la búsqueda de la eternidad en un mundo que ya no les pertenece. "La obra se adapta siempre al espacio, pero nuestra preferencia son los espacios verdes, con césped, que tengan árboles, que tengan flores, auque a veces también lo hacemos en espacios antiguos que han tenido ya una vida anterior", señaló.
Así mismo, Leal realzó la importancia del género de teatro callejero en cuanto a la relación directa que tiene con las personas, que no existe en el teatro de sala en donde la composición de dramaturgia y la académica son los elementos más importantes.
"El teatro callejero no tiene estos elementos pero pienso que está mucho mas relacionado con la gente, con sus rituales, con sus costumbres y tradiciones, con todo lo que es la cultura", afirmó.
Por su parte, el actor francés Sylvain Peker, quien visita Colombia por primera vez, destacó la buena disposición del publico colombiano hacia el teatro callejero y relató su experiencia como actor en la obra "Spirits". "Estoy descubriendo ahora los sentimientos de mi personaje y lo siento como una sombra, como cualquier cosa que pasa entre las personas de este mundo, que está pero no está" explicó el actor, miembro de la compañía desde 2003.
Una de las espectadoras colombianas que se acercó al Parque de la 93 para ver la obra compuesta por técnicas tradicionales orientales como el Butoh y las artes marciales, expresó su admiración por la compañía y resaltó la originalidad de la inusual pieza. "Me pareció muy original, nosotros esperábamos ver algo diferente, con mas acción pero como son espíritus que andan divagando, tiene que ser mucho mas calmado", dijo Doris Gómez al terminar de ver la obra junto a su familia.
La compañía PIA fundada en 2002, participó además en esta versión del Festival con su obra "Humanum Fatum" que cuestiona la dependencia del hombre hacia las máquinas y realza la importancia de la colaboración mutua en el desarrollo de la humanidad.
Portugal, forma parte de los 40 países invitados a esta versión del Festival que se clausura el 4 de abril y que rinde homenaje permanente a su fundadora, la fallecida actriz colombo -argentina Fanny Mikey.

It was with the theme “Tecnology and Cientific Fiction” that PIA presented the Performance “Hacker” on the Inauguration of FIBDA 2008 - Internacional Comics Festival of Amadora.

No passado dia 26 de Julho, o Espectáculo de Teatro de Rua em Andas “Comedor de Pecados” encheu a praça de São João em Alcochete.

Com a apresentação desta produção a Cia. PIA recebeu boas críticas tendo o espectáculo sido considerado um dos ponto altos da programação cultural “Julho mais Quente”.

In the passed day 26th of July, rhe Street Theatre in Stilts production “Comedor de Pecados – The Sin Eater” filled the São João square in Alcochete (Portugal).

In this presentation, the Cia. PIA received good critics, in which the show was considered one of the high points of the cultural programming of the Summer Event of the city.

“Ciência na Rua” é um encontro que une a ciência e a arte, no qual a intervenção artística e científica nos espaços públicos torna a cidade de Estremoz um palco para a experimentação e criatividade.

Na edição de 2008, a organização deste evento - Centro de Ciência Viva de Estremoz, convidou Pedro Leal da Cia. PIA para assumir o cargo de Director Artístico das diversas representações performativas e Helena Oliveira para directora de produção deste sector.

Este evento contou com a presença de diversas companhias na área do teatro, dança, música e circo, nomeadamente, Trupilariante, 1000Ardis, Maria João Rodrigues, Amalgama, Estaca Zero, Bardoada e a própria Cia. PIA - Projectos de Intervenção Artística.

“Ciência na Rua” it’s a union between science and art, in which the artistic and scientific intervention on public spaces transforms the city of Estremoz (Portugal) in a stage for experimentation and creativity.

On the 2008 edition, the event organization - Centro de Ciência Viva de Estremoz, invited to the Artistic Director charge Pedro Leal, from the Cia. PIA, and Helena Oliveira to Production Directress.

This event counted with the presence of several Portuguese companies in the theatre, dance, music and circus areas, they where Trupilariante, 1000Ardis, Maria João Rodrigues, Amalgama, Estaca Zero, Bardoada and also the Cia. PIA - Projectos de Intervenção Artística.

Este espectáculo remonta para o Séc.XVI e retracta a experiência de Galileu no estudo do movimento descendente de um corpo.
Numa sociedade onde o pensamento europeu era controlado por duas forças poderosas a Igreja Católica, chefiada pelo Papa, e a Filosofia Antiga, dominada pelas ideias do filósofo grego Aristóteles, Vírgina escreve cartas ao seu Pai (Galileu) na esperança que este não execute esta experiência colocando em causa as ideias até então defendidas como Verdade Universal.

A Cia. PIA - Projectos de Intervenção Artística, invites you to assist to the theatre production "A Queda dos Corpos de Galileu" that will take place 5th and 6th of July in the Street Science Event "Ciência na Rua", in Estremoz (PORTUGAL).

This shows retraces for the Séc.XVI and count the experience of Galileu in the study of the descendent movement of the bodies.
In a society where the European thought was controlled by two powerful forces the Catholic Church, commanded for the Pope, and the Old Philosophy, dominated by the ideas of the Greek philosopher Aristotle, Vírgina writes letters to her Father (Galileu) hoping that he would not execute this experience by going against the "Universal Truth".

Foi publicado pela Circostrada Network o estudo "A Circulação de Espectáculos de Rua e Circo na Europa", realizado por Anne Tucker, directora do Manchester International Arts (Reino Unido).

A PIA - Projectos de Intervenção Artística foi convidada a participar neste estudo com mais de cerca de 66 Companhias Europeias.
Este trabalho tem como objectivo compreender de uma melhor forma a realidade da difusão das Companhias, quer a nível nacional como internacional.

The Circostrada Network study “The Circulation of Street Arts and Circus Artwork in Europe”, established by Anne Tucker, the study head and director of Manchester International Arts (United Kingdom), has been published.

PIA - Projectos de Intervenção Artística was invited to take part of this study that had in total 66 European Companies.
This work aims to better understand the reality of the distribution of companies and the share held by the international part of this distribution.

No passado dia 24 de Março, a PIA esteve presente em mais uma "Queima de Judas", realizada nas ruas de Palmela.
Os actores Pedro Leal, Helena Oliveira e Tomás Barradas deram vida às diferentes personagens que ali se reuniram naquela "maravilhosa e centenária localidade" para "expurgar todas as angústias e torturas que nos consomem e nos transformam em seres de corrupta ambição".
Pedro Leal e Ricardo Brás foram os responsáveis pela criação da escultura alusiva ao Judas.
A Queima do Judas insere-se no âmbito do Programa Municipal do Teatro, em parceria com os grupos de teatro e associações locais.

On the 24th March, PIA marked its presence in the ceremony "Queima de Judas - Burning Judas", that happens every year, since 1995, on the streets of Palmela.
The actors Pedro Leal, Helena Oliveira and Tomás Barradas gave life to the different characters that reuned in that "wonderful and centenary village" to "expel all the anguish and torture that consume us and transform us in corrupt and ambitious human beings".
The Judas sculpture was made by Pedro Leal and Ricardo Brás.
The "Queima de Judas - Burning Judas" counts with the contribution of the local theatre groups and associations, in the ambit of the Theatre Municipal Program.

Esta formação intensiva engloba técnicas de Kathakali (Teatro do Gesto), Bharata Natyam (Dança Clássica) e Kalaripayattu (Arte Marcial).

From December 2007 to Fevereiro de 2008 the PIA members, Pedro Leal e Helena Oliveira, are in formation with the Theatre/Dance Company Kalatharamgini in Kerala (South India).This intensive formation involves several technics such as Kathakali (Theatre).

Kathakali
O Kathakali é uma dança drama codificada nos detalhes que envolvem uma actuação amplamente estilizada do actor. Esta arte originou-se em tempos remotos e revela uma confluência de diversas tradições existentes no districto de Kerala.
As suas peças retratam as histórias da morte dos demónios feitas por Bheema e dos jogos de dados entre Kauravas e Pandavas. Por serem muito apreciados, estes items foram transformados em danças chamadas attakathas - histórias dançadas. Assim foi dado o nome para estas peças Katha (história) Kali (jogo).

The Kathakali was born in the Kerala State and reveales a big confluence of several tradictions that exists there.
The plays tell the stories about the death of the demons made by Bheema and also the games between Kauravas e Pandavas. For being so apreciated, this stories were transformed in dances called attakathas - dance stories.
And by this way was give the name Katha (story) Kali (game) for this art.

Bharata Natyam
Bharata Natyam é uma dança clássica que se originou há mais de dois mil anos no actual estado de Tamil Nadu (Sul da Índia). Esta forma de dança está ligada a uma tradição templária na qual uma classe de dançarinas dedicava-se aos serviços dos deuses, as chamadas devadasis (servas de Deus). Viviam nos recintos dos templos e eram mulheres altamente respeitadas, e educadas para serem profecientes nas artes da música, dança e literatura. As comunidades locais mantinham os templos e, deste modo, inderectamente, mantinham o sustnto das próprias devadasis.

Bharata Natyam it's a classical dance that was born more than 2000 years ago, in the actual Tamil Nadu state (South India). This type of dance it's conected to a templary tradiction in wich a class of dancers dedicate themselfes to the services of God, the so call devadasis (server of God). They lived in the temples and where very respected and educated to be profecients in the music and dance arts.

Kalaripayattu
Kalaripayattu é uma arte marcial orginária no estado de Kerala, situado a sudoeste da Índia. Era praticada originalmente pelos guerreiros de Kerala para aguçar as suas técnicas em combate. Esta arte ancestral é chamada "a mãe de todas as artes marciais", até mesmo a chinesa Shaolin Chuan do famoso templo Shaolin tem a sua origem no Bodhi Dharma, um famoso budista indiano que era especialista em Kalaripayattu.
O Kalaripayattu exibe uma grande influência do ayurveda, um sistema indiano ancestral de medicina holística, assim como formas de dança clássica de Kerala, como o Kathakali.

Kalaripayattu its a martial art originated in the Kerala State, in the south of India. At the begining it was used by the Kerala warriors to improve their combat technics. This ancestral art its know by "the mother of all martial arts". Even the chinese Shaolin Chuan of the famous Shaolin temple borned with the Bodhi Dharma, one famous indian budist master in Kalaripayattu.
The Kalaripayattu exibes a big ayurvedic influence, one ancestral indian system of holistic medicine, and also of classical dance forms of Kerala, as the Kathakali.

No passado dia 3 de Novembro, a PIA-Projectos de Intervenção Artística, CRL esteve presente na 10ª Mediterrània, Fira D'Espectacles D'Arrel Tradicional com o Espectáculo de Teatro Físico em Andas "Comedor de Pecados".
